| | | | | | | | | | Using a cloth, wash the walls with a solution made of equal parts ammonia to equal parts water and allow walls to dry thoroughly. | | | | Repair cracks and remove loose paint and any high points or old paint drips to prevent bumps under your new wallpaper. If you are hanging wallpaper on new drywall, porous paint, spackled or taped areas or over a colored or patterned surface, prime the surface with SHIELDZ® Universal Wallcovering Primer. SHIELDZ® helps wallpaper go on easier, makes it easier to remove and creates the perfect surface for hanging any type of wallpaper.
Tip: If there is old wallpaper on the wall, remove it before hanging new wallpaper. | | | | Carefully measure the wall and cut the wallpaper to length using either the SoftGrip Razor Knife or Snap-Off Knife. Brush or roll SureGrip® Universal Wallcovering Adhesive onto the back of half the length of wallpaper, fold the wallpaper back to itself – paste to paste – and continue to apply to the balance of the strip. SureGrip Universal goes on pink and dries clear. It can be used to hang any wallpaper or border: pre-pasted, non-pasted, paste-the-wall and borders over vinyl. Prepare “book” wallpaper as per the manufacturers directions. | | | | To hang the wallpaper, align it with your plumb line and apply to wall, overlapping the ceiling molding by a few inches. Let the other edge hang loose to make positioning easier. | | | | After hanging the wallpaper, smooth it out using the WalWiz® 3-IN-One Wallpaper Tool. See Removing Wallpaper for instructions. | | | | Trim the overhanging paper. Then you are ready for the next sheet. Continue until you have wallpapered the entire desired area. | |
